Glucosamine and Chondroitin not at the same time every day?
2017 March 3
Question:
I read somewhere that glucosamine and chondroitin should not be ingested together at the same time every day. That it would be better to take glucosamine in the morning and chondroitin in the evening, because otherwise they would be less effective. Is that right?
Answer:
There is no evidence that ingestion of glucosamine and chondroitin together would be less effective. The opposite is rather expected, although it cannot be said with absolute certainty, while as far as we know no specific research was done into the effects of times of ingestion.
However, from the large-scale American GAIT study it appeared that there is a stronger effect when glucosamine and chondroitin are used together than if each of these supplements are used separately. During the research the supplements were ingested at the same time of day (3 times daily glucosamine and chondroitin).
