Question:
Can I use your product Omega-3 to lose weight?
Answer:
Omega-3 can contribute to weight loss. The effect is not spectacular, but also not negligible. A use of Omega-3 (2 capsules a day) for a year delivers approximately about 1 kilo of fat loss. Besides Omega-3 offers another range of advantages. Who does not eat enough of fatty fish – 2 till 3 times a week- would do well to take extra Omega-3 by means of a fish oil supplement.
I do not experience any fishy tasty reflux when using your fish oil. How is that possible?
Question:
I received the fish oil I ordered and ingested it. I notice that I do not experience any fishy tasty reflux, that I experienced when using the pharmacist’s fish oil. Do you supply real fish oil of good quality?
Answer:
Our fish oil is deodorised, meaning that the fish taste and odour are significantly lower than with most other brands. That only tells in a good way something about the product quality. Only quality fish oil like those of Marinoil C38 manufactured by Lipi Nutrition in the Netherlands are deodorised. It is an expensive treatment.
Question:
I have heard that the quality of fish oil/omega-3 deteriorates quickly. Is that right? Will the quality of the fish oil be maintained when I buy more bottles?
Answer:
It is indeed the case that the quality of fish oil/omega-3 can deteriorate quickly. For that reason antioxidant is often added. Several substances can be used for that cause. We chose the antioxidant natural mixed tocopherols (vitamin E). The fish oil/omega-3 will then remain well for a longer period of time (about two years).
Question:
My dog, a boxer, has osteoarthritis. Is it necessary to give him glucosamine and chondroitin together?
Answer:
Giving both products is not strictly necessary. You can start by giving glucosamine. That is mostly sufficient. Were it to appear that glucosamine would not be sufficient after a few months, then a completion with chondroitin might give the desired outcome. But our expectation is that glucosamine only will be sufficient, given the good experiences of many of our customers who have a dog with osteoarthritis.
Question:
I am 61 years old and my joints are acting up a bit. Diabetes type II was diagnosed. Can I use glucosamine and chondroitin?
Answer:
Glucosamine unfortunately influences the blood glucose levels with people diagnosed diabetes type II. You can find a warning on the label. They can use glucosamine, but we advise them to check the blood glucose levels to see if there is any change.
By the way our supplements chondroitin and ASU Forte are good alternatives to glucosamine. They can be used by people with diabetes type II without any problems.
Question:
Why don’t you sell a combination product in which you can find glucosamine and chondroitin? I find that easier.
Answer:
We have deliberately chosen not to offer such a combination product, because there is also a high demand for loose chondroitin. We couldn’t help these people with a combination product.
A combined product does not have any cost advantages (the price is determined by the cost of raw materials) and there is hardly extra ease of use: the number of the capsules remains 4, also in case of a combination product! The only advantage you have, is that you do not need to open two bottles.
Anyway, we do offer the combination product Arthro-5, with glucosamine and chondroitin in the same dosage as in the separate products. In Arthro-5 you can also find the ingredients MSM, ASU and hyaluron acids.
Question:
I would like to know if you can find sweeteners like aspartame, acesulfame and sucralose in glucosamine sulfate and chondroitin sulfate?
Answer:
Our supplements do not contain any sweeteners: no artificial and no natural. Sweeteners are sometimes used for glucosamine powder (bags) for its taste. Our glucosamine consists of capsules, whereby the taste does not play any role.
Question:
I bought your glucosamine for my osteoarthritis. However, I have got some trouble swallowing your capsules. Can you give me some advice?
Answer:
Swallowing glucosamine capsules is generally easier when you drink it with water at the same time (half or a whole cup of water).
If that is no solution to you, it is also possible to extract the powder from the capsule and ingest it like that. That has no negative effect on the functioning. Dissolve in water is also possible, but you can also mix the powder with fruit juice or yogurt.
Question:
I would like to have some clarity about the amount of active glucosamine in your capsules. I just received the bottles I ordered, but before I open them I would like to know more about the following: on your website you claim to prescribe 2010 mg a day. On the packaging, however, it says that there is 1500 mg in the prescribed capsules, of which 1190 mg elementary glucosamine and 510 mg potassium (together 1600 mg?). Can you explain me how these numbers add up?
Answer:
Our apologies for the confusion. It has to do with the chemical composition how the glucosamine is designated. There are different ways that can lead to confusion.
– Glucosamine sulfate 2 KCl = 2010 mg per daily dosage (2 KCl salt potassium chloride to stabilise)
– Glucosamine sulfate = 1500 mg per daily dosage.
– Glucosamine = 1190 mg per daily dosage (also called ‘glucosamine base’ or ‘elementary
It is all about exactly the same product, but with a different notation.
The notation in the middle is commonly used by rheumatologists, scientists and in the press. It is the most known notation. Recently the last notation (glucosamine base) must as legally required, be indicated on the labelling. In this way users can make a better comparison between several products.
Question:
Do you sell fish oil of Marinoil? Where can I find further information regarding this brand?
Answer:
Marinoil is a brand name. The most fish oil that is sold, is anonymous unbranded fish oil. The origin is not always easy to trace. Therefore we didn’t choose anonymous fish oil, but an established brand (Marinoil). This fish oil is made by a famous Dutch manufacturer: Stepan Lipid Nutrition, formerly part of Unilever. The company has a very good reputation.
The Marinoil fish oil is a fish oil that emphasizes purity. The fish from which this fish oil is distracted is sardine and anchovy. These are fishes who are not at the top of the food chain (compared to e.g. salmon), through which in their fat less harmful substances have been built up. The fish comes from the South Pacific, where the water is relatively clean. So it is a relatively clean basic product. Besides, our product undergoes an extra purification process, through which the oil will become free of pollutions.
