LongLife Box contains essential vitamins and minerals and also many well-known 'superfoods'. Many people use one or more supplements to support their health. Multivitamins, Fish oil/Omega 3, Ginkgo Biloba, Ginseng, Curcumin and Resveratrol are the most popular.
For the very first time, all these ingredients and more are bundled in one supplement that ensures you stay fit for longer. Not in insignificant quantities, but in the meaningful doses as applied in scientific research.
Per daily dose of 2 capsules + 1 softgel (that can be taken together), LongLife Box contains:
Essential fatty acids
Plant extracts
Minerals
Vitamins
Click on 'Read more' below for extra information on all these ingredients.
Essential fatty acids
Fish oil (Omega 3)
1000 mg, of which at least 280 mg Omega 3, of which at least 160 mg EPA and 100 mg DHA.
The Omega 3 fatty acids EPA and DHA from fish oil have a broad positive effect on health: maintaining normal heart function and in high doses it maintains normal triglyceride values in the blood, normal blood pressure, normal brain function and normal eyesight. Eating fatty fish twice a week provides you with sufficient Omega 3 fatty acids. People who can't or won't eat fish this often are offered a great alternative by way of the fish oil/Omega 3 in LongLife Box.
Plant extracts ('superfoods')
Ginkgo Biloba
120 mg
Ginkgo Biloba is a unique tree that seems to have changed little over more than 200 million years. No related tree species are still in existence. The leaves of this 'living fossil' contain phytonutrients that no other plant has. The extract of the Ginkgo Biloba leaves, together with curcumin, belongs to the most commonly used food supplements.
Green tea
120 mg
The beneficial health effects of green tea are now widely known. They are ascribed to the catechins in green tea, especially Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). As such, we recommend everyone drinks green tea daily. For those who can't or don't want to, there is green tea extract. The 120 mg green tea extract in LongLife Box corresponds with 1 to 2 cups of green tea a day.
Curcuminoids (curcumin)
115 mg
Curcumin is fast gaining popularity. It is now one of the most commonly-used supplements. Curcumin is a natural substance from the root of the turmeric plant, also called Indian Yellow Root, often used as a spice in Indian cooking. Curcumin is one of the three curcuminoids found in this healthy extract.
Panax ginseng
115 mg
Panax Ginseng has been cultivated for 4000 years and is used in China, Korea and Japan. The extract contains ginsenosides. Together with the Ginkgo Biloba extract, it has been a very popular supplement in Europe for years.
Grape seed
47 mg
Healthy nutrition includes alcohol-free red wine, grape juice and blueberry juice. These are a source of oligomeric proanthocyanins (OPCs). One of the richest sources of OPCs is red wine, due to the grapes the wine is made from. One glass of red wine contains about 25 mg of proanthocyanins, from grape seeds, which is the same as in a daily dose from LongLife Box.
Quercetin
40 mg
Quercetin is a substance found in small quantities in numerous foods. Onions and apples are rich sources of quercetin. Daily nutrition contains on average about 20 mg quercetin. The LongLife Box adds another 40 mg, from the flowers and buds of the pagoda tree. No life-prolonging effect has been established for quercetin. However, animal studies using similar doses of quercetin indicate that although it doesn't 'add years to a life' it does 'add life to the years'.
Resveratrol
6 mg
Resveratrol is a healthy substance that is found in red wine, to name but one. The highest concentrations of resveratrol measured are around 1 mg per glass. LongLife Box contains about 6 mg per daily dose. Animal studies established a life-prolonging action, but no proof of this has been found in humans. The research into resveratrol remains undiminished; the substance continues to fascinate scientists. It also remains a very popular supplement.
Piperine
2 mg
Piperine is an extract of black pepper (it is what gives this spice its sharp taste). It is added to LongLife Box because it interacts positively with curcumin and green tea extract.
Lutein
1 mg
Lutein is a natural yellow 'colorant' that occurs in spinach, kale and yellow carrot. It is a relative of the orange beta carotene from orange carrots. The human eye contains lutein in the 'yellow spot' (macula lutea) of the retina.
Minerals
Magnesium
150 mg (40% RDA)
Magnesium is one of the most well-known minerals. It is essential to many bodily functions. Magnesium supplements are often used for their noticeably positive effect on the body, especially alleviation of mental and physical tiredness. LongLifeBox contains magnesium oxide. The advantage of this form is that it contains as much as 4 to 6 times as much magnesium per gram than most other magnesium compounds. What's more, magnesium oxide (per mg magnesium) is much less likely to cause stomach upsets and intestinal complaints.
Zinc
6.7 mg (67% RDA)
Zinc is an important mineral mainly found in meat and crustaceans. Plant-based foods contain zinc in much smaller concentrations. What's more, it is more difficult for the body to absorb zinc from plant-based foods. As many people are reducing their meat intake, we chose to add 6.7 milligrams of zinc to LongLife Box, in line with two-thirds of the recommended daily allowance. This is not an extravagantly high dose. Even in case of high meat consumption, it would not cause excessive zinc intake.
Selenium
55 mcg (100% RDA)
Selenium is a very important trace element. There is relatively little selenium in the ground in North and West Europe. This means both plant-based and animal-based foods contain relatively little selenium too. Due to the low concentrations of selenium in foods, the Finnish government decided to add this element to fertilisers. Unfortunately, this is not the case in other European countries. In the United States, particularly in the west of the country, the soil contains a good level of selenium. The average American therefore consumes an average of more than 100 micrograms per day. The Finnish ingest 100 to 110 micrograms, thanks to the selenium-enriched fertilisers. The average selenium intake in Europe is far below this, at 30 to 60 micrograms. LongLife Box contains a safe quantity of selenium. The daily dose (55 micrograms) brings you more or less to the same level as people who eat foods from selenium-rich soil.
Iodine
150 mcg (100% RDA)
Iodine is the most important element in LongLife Box for many people. The reason is that sufficient quantities of iodine naturally only occur in fish, seafood and seaweed. Many people do not eat these types of food. In principle, a diet without seafood results in a iodine deficiency. It is true that many people became ill due to an iodine deficiency. For this reason, iodine-enriched salt has been added to bread ever since the Second World War. But apart from the fact that many people do not eat seafood, there is also an increasing number of people who eat little or no bread. For this group, it is particularly advisable to supplement their iodine levels.
Vitamins
Provitamin A
500 mcg (63% RDA)
Provitamin A (beta carotene) is indispensable and contributes to maintaining a healthy immune system, good eyesight and healthy skin, to name but a few benefits. In addition, provitamin A offers the cells protection against oxidative damage.
Vitamin B Complex
1.5 mg Vitamin B1 (138% RDA), 1.8 mg Vitamin B2 (128% RDA), 18 mg Vitamin B3 (113% RDA), 8.1 mg Vitamin B5 (135% RDA), 1.5 mg Vitamin B6 (105% RDA), 90 mcg Biotin/Vitamin B8 (180% RDA), 110 mcg Folate/Vitamin B11 (57% RDA), 6 mcg Vitamin B12 (240% RDA)
B vitamins have a many benefits, just like vitamin A. The vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B8, B11 (folate) and B12 contribute to maintaining numerous essential functions and organs in the body, including the heart, nervous system, hormones, skin and immune system. They also protect the cells against oxidative damage. Vitamin B12 is off extra importance to vegetarians and vegans.
Vitamin C
80 mg (100% RDA)
Vitamin C fulfils several important roles in the human body. Vitamin C is particularly significant for producing energy, reducing tiredness and supporting the immune system. It also stimulates the production of collagen for maintaining normal function of joints, tendons, skin, bones, teeth and gums.
Vitamin E
12 mg (100% RDA)
Our body uses oxygen to 'burn' fats and carbohydrates in particular and produce energy as a result. These so-called oxidative processes release reactive molecules that damage the body. This damage is called 'oxidative stress'. The body uses anti-oxidants to limit the damage from reactive molecules. Vitamin E is one such anti-oxidant. There are many anti-oxidants in our food, but vitamin E is essential.
Vitamin D3
25 mcg (500%)
Vitamin D is essential for maintaining healthy bones and teeth and is also very important to the immune system. Vitamin D is the only vitamin humans largely do not ingest through their food, but via another source: sunlight. The human body makes vitamin D within the skin as soon as it is exposed to summery sunlight. However, this is much less successful in autumn and spring, and not at all possible in winter, and people who spend a lot of time at home or in the office may develop a vitamin D deficiency. In that case, it is wise to choose a food supplement containing vitamin D.
Vitamin K2 (MK7)
60 mcg (80% RDA)
Vitamin K is important for blood clotting and contributes to maintaining healthy bones, like vitamin D. The two vitamins need each other for this. Where vitamin D ensures that the body is able to absorb the mineral calcium, vitamin K ensures that the calcium is absorbed in the right places, namely the bones and teeth. In the event of a vitamin K deficiency, the body has trouble absorbing the calcium into the bone structure and deposits it in undesirable parts of the body.
By choosing LongLife Box, you are choosing quality. We can guarantee it in the following way:
Safe product. The producer fulfills GMP and HACCP requirements. This means that it follows strict procedures which ensure food safety and hygiene.
Independently tested. The end product is randomly tested for heavy metals and biological pollutants by the independent laboratory NutriControl. Click on the microscope symbol below for the most recent test results. Read more about the independent laboratory tests here.
Capsule form. LongLife Box comes in capsules and softgels instead of tablets. Capsules and softgels are absorbed more quickly and have less chance of causing gastric hypersensitivity. Another advantage of capsules and softgels is that they are easier to swallow than rough capsules with hard edges.
